How did the promoted sides fair?
Newcastle
They beat Brighton by one point to secure automatic promotion into the 2017/2018 season. It must be said that things are usually rough for promoted sides. After some miserable form followed by a new managerial appointment they finally seem stable. This side is strong, not because of individual players, but the team contribution.
If you are not giving 110 % Rafael Benitez doesn't play yo,u and with season players like Ritchie , Shelvey and Dummet, they have a solid spine in place to challenge for a top 8 spot next season baring a few addditions. At 10th position they look the most sure to secure top fight access next season from the bunch. Ayoze has caught form of late and a pattern of him firing closer to the end of the season is developing. One wonders how Bournemouth let Matt Ritchie go. He is capable of picking a pass and delivering a screamer or two every season, this one has been just the same with him already having seven assist with four games to play compared to last season where he finished on eight.
Brighton & Hove Albion
13thLost the playoff's last time around but made up for it the following year, and now seems they are never looking back. On one side they sit in 13th place not fully safe, but with positives and a point taken from the Spurs match recently, few could bet against them. Then on the other side the relegation battle is not yet clear.
They must be commended as the likes of Knockheart and Murray's goal scoring touch have gone far in alleviating some of the deficiencies around the rest of the squad. Too often they play themselves into trouble, but this is the Premier League and mistakes made are usually punished here.

Izquerido is a gem, and they will do good to hold on, but in fan favorite German playmaker Pascal Gross who recently transferred they look stable nonetheless. He seems to only score at home surprisingly.
Huddersfield
15th place
Survival is the focus currently at this club. Most didn't expect much but they can hold their heads high as they have provided much with a great goal early on against Newcastle from Aaron Mooy, a player not all that impressive in the Championship last season. January signing Pitchard has been good if not impressive under the circumstances and often times occupies the number 10 role. He got vital points against West Brom and Bournemouth early on in 2018 to give Huddersfield a much needed after winter break boost.

Sorry but every time I see a Newcastle player in that referee uniform, I lost focus on the game because its just so funny...
ReplyDeleteI was actually wondering why are there so many referees lol
